For a time, they were made of metal. Then the watches started to come out with lightweight plastic resin cases, and that became the trend. This READ brand Men's Digital Watch feels like a welcome return to metal-cased digital watches. Sure, some other popular brands have been coming out with reintroductions of retro 80's metal-cased watches in the last few years, but this one seems like a next generation of digital watch that feels more substantial, but is also affordable.The watch arrived neatly presented in a box separate from its band and a spare CR2025 3V battery. The band installs easily and without tools thanks to its quick-release spring bars. The soft band feels like a layer of surface leather over a silicone backing and conforms comfortably to the wrist without any need for breaking in. The band has a brushed metal buckle that matches the watch case which looks and feels amazing. I really like the nice heft that this watch has. It feels solid and very unlike the cheap digital watches of the past. The digital display is large, clear, and easy to read. The watch comes with instructions, but the setting is fairly simple and intuitive. Watch features include time/day/date display, chronograph stopwatch, timer, and 4 alarms. The real star for me is the watch's backlight illumination. The entire screen lights up with a green glow and makes it instantly readable. The case back is held by small screws so watch battery changes could be easily done at home and won't require a trip to a watch shop. Finally, the price of this watch is affordable and seems like a real bargain for this impressive watch.Very well made. Didn’t expect the quality of this watch! It has a nice weight to it and illuminates very brightly! Happy with this product, would recommend!A very sturdy time piece that looks as rich as it should, works like a charm, is unisex which means his and hers for gifting, and it never loses time.
